SKF South Africa (Pty) Ltd  (0.42 MB)

SKF has launched three new tools that enable technicians to fit boots and tighten boot clamps simply and effectively for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The two SKF clamp tools (VKN 400 & VKN 401) enable a tight and even fit, while the SKF expander tool (VKN 402) facilitates the fitting of the universal boots, making significant savings on repair time and reducing costs for the end-user. The SKF clamp tools come in two variants: the VKN 400 designed for universal clamps
and the VKN 401 for ear clamps. These tools enable mechanics to fasten boot clamps tightly and accurately, guaranteeing reliable, long-term performance of the boot and
consequently the CV-Joint. Both the SKF VKN 400 and VKN 401 are safe and easy to use.

The SKF expander tool (VKN 402) enables universal boots to be fitted quickly and easily since there is no need to dismount the CV-Joint and, in most cases, no need to remove the driveshaft from the car. The SKF expander is a CE-marked pneumatic tool that can be used unplugged from the pneumatic air intake during fitting. It is lighter than competitors’ tools and requires no physical effort to expand the boot, offering mechanics a safe and user-friendly tool that fits boots on both the wheel and the
gearbox side. “The launch of the new SKF driveline tools underlines our commitment to supporting mechanics with solutions that enable them to improve performance and enhance efficiency,” said Daniele Trossi, SKF Driveline Product Manager. “The SKF expander tool (VKN 402) and the SKF clamp tools (VKN 400 & VKN 401) help mechanics to ensure correct fitting every time, as well as optimum performance and a longer life of the components.”
