Engen Brackenfell helps uplift Tygerberg's street people
Engen Brackenfell Convenience Centre owner, Louis Van Jaarsveld has once again raised much-needed funds to support the Creative Access for Street People Organisation (CASPO).
The R10,000 contribution will help sustain vital services, including their daily feeding programme for the homeless.
Van Jaarsveld used Engen’s Dealer Community Partnership Programme (DCPP) to raise the funds.
Engen’s DCPP, which matches the dealer’s contribution rand for rand up to R5 000, aims to contribute to the development of disadvantaged communities through funding initiatives that uplift, educate, and support communities around Engen service stations.
Marty Ludick, Fundraising Director for CASPO, which is the fundraising arm for the Tygerberg Association of Street People, extended gratitude to Engen and Van Jaarsveld for their ongoing support.
“Engen and Louis have been regular contributors for many years now, and these contributions make a substantial difference to so many lives, as we feed around 150 homeless people every day and could not do so without the support of our regular donors,” commented Ludick.
“Besides the meals we serve at the soup kitchen, we also hand out food parcels to families who are destitute but not yet homeless.
“Engen’s contribution has an immediate impact on the lives of many adults and children living in poverty and despair,” she added.
Van Jaarsveld, who is a long-time supporter of the Tygerberg Association of Street People said: “I wish I could do more. I support the Association because of what they do for our community and for less fortunate people in our society.”
In addition to supporting the Association, Louis and his family also contribute to the Durbanville Children’s Home and the SPCA.
“Hungry people, abandoned children, and animals are dearest to our hearts, and we will not turn our backs on them,” added Van Jaarsveld.
Engen’s Corporate Social Investment Manager, Olwethu Mdabula, emphasised the company’s ongoing commitment to community upliftment and engagement.
“The DCPP is a testament to Engen’s dedication to fostering positive change and supporting those in need,” said Mdabula.
“Engen fully encourages and supports its dealers getting involved and engaging with their local communities. We commend Louis for his generous show of community support and social upliftment.”
