SKF Power Transmission Components and SKF Training Solutions have collaborated to deliver an integrated, fully customised solution to a fan manufacturer specialising in mining ventilation.

SKF product manager: power transmission Micaela Willers explained that the customer required a customised disc coupling for a large 2- m-diameter fan. The unusual coupling required a non-standard tolerance and the customer asked for a plug-and-play solution, as the coupling would be exported to be fitted onto the fan operating in a remote mine.

SKF Training Solutions offered Precision Shaft Alignment training so the couplings would be correctly installed.

SKF asserts that its added-value offering, and the coupling’s quality-price competitive value, led to the customer purchasing a second coupling, and that the customer is now considering an investment in Dynamic Balancing training and the purchase of SKF’s Mapro products that were demonstrated during the training courses.
