Engen has unveiled its updated Xtreme lubricants range featuring the latest additive technology engineered to enhance engine efficiency, reduce wear, and prolong vehicle lifespan.

The company explains that its product is designed to meet the demands of local roads and climate and is specifically formulated to protect high-mileage engines, noting that the average age of vehicles on South African roads is around 11 years, with many cars still relying on internal combustion engines.

Available in Standard S8, Premium S10, and Prestige S15 grades, the lubricants provide protection against wear and corrosion, and meet the requirements of modern European, Asian, and African powertrains. The formulation is intended to sustain maximum oil and engine efficiency, even as the oil ages, improving power conversion, keeping engines clean and saving fuel costs.

“As vehicle engine design advances and fuel efficiency becomes a priority, the new Xtreme range has evolved to meet these demands,” says Engen product manager: automotive Mario Vester. “Using the latest lubricant technology, it guarantees quality for everything from trusted high-mileage workhorses to modern high-performance vehicles, ensuring superior protection and peace of mind.”

Engen asserts that its Xtreme range is a 100%-tested, locally manufactured lubricant produced in KwaZulu-Natal. Its formulations are designed to withstand South Africa’s unique driving conditions, ensuring optimal performance in extreme heat, cold, and heavy traffic.

“We understand the challenges South African motorists face, from fluctuating temperatures to stop-start traffic,” says Vester. “That’s why Engen Xtreme is tailored to deliver the best possible protection, no matter the journey.”

As part of the rebrand, Engen Xtreme features modernised packaging aimed at improving usability and sustainability. The design includes anti-counterfeiting measures, enhanced dispensing mechanisms, and clearer labelling to ensure mechanics and vehicle owners can easily identify and use the correct lubricant product.

In addition, post-consumer recycled materials have been incorporated into the packaging, to help reduce the environmental impact while maintaining durability and performance.

The re-designed Engen Xtreme range is available at authorised retailers and service stations nationwide.
