Each step of the value chain requires different support systems. For example, at the Mine, activities would entail extracting materials with shovels and excavators, which would require Stock-yard Management for both commodities and equipment. Close monitoring of materials and movements are required.

At the processing plant where raw materials are processed, we would suggest tools that optimitise production, and enhance planning & scheduling. The same would apply when it comes to managing inventory levels and quality.

Moving materials to the port, stockpiling, loading and managing vessels and shipping materials to multiple destinations require strict control of stock movement, shipping times, etc. This offering would give you a complete visual on exactly where each ship is, and what it’s load contains at any given time, across the globe.

Since all of these processes are so complex and interconnected, and a lot of guess work is involved, another underpinning factor which could save millions of rands per month would be accurate data analysis, particularly of mass balancing and metals accounting, where variances of as little is 1% could amount to millions.

Electronic Permit-to-Works are particularly valuable in terms of improving safety levels, speeding up audits and dramatically reducing contractor wait times.
