Schneider Electric celebrates milestone anniversaries in Nigeria and Kenya
Schneider Electric, the global leader in energy management and automation, and recognised sustainability leader, is celebrating two major milestones on the African continent: 25 years of operations in Nigeria and 10 years in Kenya. These anniversaries underscore the company’s long-term commitment to driving Africa’s energy transformation through sustainable innovation, local partnerships, and inclusive development.
“Schneider Electric’s presence in Nigeria and Kenya is a reflection of our purpose-driven mission to empower communities, expand access to energy, enable industry digitalisation, and accelerate Africa’s green transition,” says Canninah Dladla, Cluster President for English-speaking Africa at Schneider Electric.
Nigeria – a quarter-century of growth and impact
Since entering the Nigerian market, Schneider Electric has played a fundamental role in modernising the country’s energy, industrial, and educational sectors. The company has delivered sustainable solutions across key industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, hospitality, and construction.
Key milestones include:
- Establishing dozens of training centre partnerships and training thousands of students and educators in technical and green skills.
- Growing its workforce from a few dozen to hundreds of employees and building a partner ecosystem of hundreds of local businesses.
- Launching a multi-modal testing facility in Rivers State to support hundreds of participants in digital learning.
- Opening a new office in 2024 to reinforce its long-term vision for growth.
- Receiving the “Employer of the Year” award in the Energy and Utilities Sector from the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association.
Kenya – driving partnership and green transition
Schneider Electric in Kenya, has since its establishment, focused on supporting the country’s digital and green transition. Through partnerships with government, industry, and academia, the company has delivered solutions that enhance energy access, local manufacturing, and workforce development.
Highlights from the past decade include:
- Supporting local manufacturing through initiatives like “Buy Kenya, Build Kenya” By locally assembling Prisma and BlokSeT switchboard enclosures
- Equipping dozens of TVET institutions across East Africa with modern training tools and reaching tens of thousands of students.
- Establishing the Schneider Electric Franco-Kenyan Centre of Excellence at PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute in Nairobi
- Deploying EcoStruxure digital architecture across sectors from banking to manufacturing and utilities
- Powering East Africa’s first hyperscale data centre, NBOX1, in partnership with IXAfrica
- Implementing smart off-grid solutions in Kisii County health centres, contributing to significant reductions in maternal mortality rates.
