Virtual - South African Circular Manufacturing Initiative inception workshop
Inviting industry to contribute to a science, innovation and technology strategy that enables circularity in the manufacturing sector.

The workshop will kick-start the work of the South African Circular Manufacturing Initiative, investigating how science, technology and innovation (STI) can accelerate the circular economy in the local manufacturing sector.
Four focus areas for STI investment have been identified:
- Resource Efficiency & Cleaner Production
- Circular Product Design
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Remanufacturing
As host of SACMI, the National Cleaner Production Centre is inviting industry, academia and those working in the circular economy to co-create circular economic solutions by:
- Giving input into identifying critical sectors,
- Highlighting key technologies to prioritise,
- Sharing existing and potential circular economy initiatives underway in your sector.
Join the discussion with international experts in the circular economy in industry, South African industry associations, manufacturing companies, universities working in the field, the NCPC and the CSIR.
SACMI is hosted by the NCPC and overseen by Circular Innovation South Africa at the CSIR, for a period 1 January 2025 – 31 March 2025. This is one of three DSTI initiatives.
