Black Mountain Mining (BMM) renewable-energy PV facility.

Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) subsidiary BMM.

Project Description
The project will substitute a portion of the current electricity supply from State-owned power utility Eskom.

The 30 MW PV plant will be connected as an embedded generator, solely for BMM operational consumption, and is expected to produce about 87 GWh/y of electricity.

This will, ultimately, result in carbon emission savings of about 75 t/y of CO2 from the Eskom coal fleet supply.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create about 250 jobs during the construction phase and a further estimated 35 permanent jobs during the operational phase.

Capital Expenditure
Capital will be invested by the independent power producer.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to be completed in the 2025/26 financial year.

VZI is in the final design approval (budget quote) process with Eskom.
