Name of the Project
Black Mountain Mining (BMM) renewable-energy PV facility.
Location
Aggeneys, Northern Cape, South Africa.
Project Owner/s

Project Description
The project will substitute a portion of the current electricity supply from State-owned power utility Eskom.
The 30 MW PV plant will be connected as an embedded generator, solely for BMM operational consumption, and is expected to produce about 87 GWh/y of electricity.
This will, ultimately, result in carbon emission savings of about 75 t/y of CO2 from the Eskom coal fleet supply.
Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create about 250 jobs during the construction phase and a further estimated 35 permanent jobs during the operational phase.
Capital Expenditure
Capital will be invested by the independent power producer.
Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to be completed in the 2025/26 financial year.
