There will be no train service between the Gautrain’s Park and Rosebank stations from 05:00 on Saturday, March 8, until 20:30 on Sunday, March 9, for final repair works to be done in the tunnel section between these two stations.

As a contingency measure, a bus service will operate between the Park and Rosebank stations to transport passengers between these two stations.

Train service between Rosebank and Park stations was impacted by illegal drilling activity on a private property located above the Gautrain tunnel. Parts of the Gautrain rail network run below ground in tunnels, while the rest of the network runs above ground.

The drilling activity caused the ingress of water and soil into the tunnel, which impacts the ability to operate the system between these two stations.

“We would like to apologise in advance for the inconvenience the repair works will cause to passengers travelling between Park and Rosebank this weekend. The full train service will be available from the start of operations on Monday morning,” Gautrain spokesperson Dr Kesagee Nayager says in a statement.

The train service between all other stations will be unaffected and will operate according to schedule.
