State-owned digital infrastructure services provider Sentech and small, medium-sized and microenterprises (SMMEs) organisation the Information and Communications Technology SMME Chamber (ICT SMME Chamber) have signed an agreement to boost SMMEs' participation in the ICT industry.

The partnership is aimed at expanding access for SMMEs to opportunities in the industry, thereby fostering innovation and driving digital transformation.

The partners' efforts focus on creating an ecosystem where SMMEs can flourish, innovate and make meaningful contributions to the country’s economic progress.

“Sentech is dedicated to building a more inclusive and dynamic ICT sector. Through this partnership with the ICT SMME Chamber, we are creating new pathways for small businesses to thrive and contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s digital economy and create the much-needed job opportunities,” says Sentech acting CEO Tebogo Leshope.

“Through collaboration with Sentech, we aim to unlock new opportunities for small businesses, enhance skills development and drive economic growth,” says ICT SMME Chamber MD Loyiso Tyira.

The public-private collaboration reinforces the shared commitment of both the industry and government to economic empowerment, innovation and sector transformation.

Sentech and the ICT SMME Chamber are optimistic that the partnership will foster a stronger, more inclusive ICT sector in South Africa, the organisations say.
