Sustainable toilet technology reduces water and costs

Propelair toilet

A new product for commercial sanitation integrates technology into existing infrastructure to help save water and reduce the impact on the environment.

The low-flush, 1.35 ℓ toilet from Propelair connects to the Internet of Things (IoT) to provide feedback to service engineers through data transmission. The IoT connectivity offers real-time maintenance diagnostic alerts, helping to streamline maintenance and reduce downtime.

The unit can be fitted into existing drainage systems and is available for new installations and retrofits. A 24 V battery back-up option is available for areas with interrupted electricity supply.

By replacing 7.65 ℓ of water with 70 ℓ of air, the system is said to use up to 85% less water than traditional toilets.

The closed-to-flush technology includes an anti-microbial Biomaster latch that contributes to hygiene protection, designed to remove up to 99.9% of contaminants.

The company asserts that its sanitation system offers immediate savings with a payback period of one to two years and a reduction in water bills of over 60%. In addition, it features real-time call logging, maintenance scheduling, optimised resource allocation, an asset history log, instant alerts and customisable reporting.

The system aims to help commercial partners reduce their carbon footprint, meet sustainability goals and reduce costs.
