Bentley Systems names winners of 2023 Going Digital Awards
Companies hailing from the US, the UK and Australia are among those that bagged awards at this year’s Bentley Systems Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure, which honours the work of Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction and operations around the world.
The finalists presented their projects at the 2023 Year in Infrastructure event, held in Singapore last week, before global press and 12 independent jury panels.
The jurors determined the winners of the 12 award categories from 36 finalists that were shortlisted from over 300 nominations submitted by 235 organisations from 51 countries.
The winner in the bridges and tunnels category was WSP Australia for its Southern Programme Alliance project, in Melbourne, while Laing O-Rourke won the construction category with its SEPA Surrey-Hills Level Crossing Removal Project, also in Melbourne.
In the enterprise engineering category, Mott MacDonald was recognised as the winner with its project to standardise delivery of phosphorus removal schemes for the UK water industry.
Vrame Consult won in the facilities, campuses and cities category with its Siemensstadt Square Digital Campus Twin project, in Berlin, while Shenyang Aluminium & Magnesium Engineering & Research Institute took home the award for process and power generation, for its digital twin application project involving electrolytic aluminium engineering for Chinalco China Resources.
The rail and transit category award was bestowed on Aecom Perunding for the Johor Bahru Singapore Rapid Transit System project, in Malaysia and Singapore, while the I-70 Floyd Hill to Veterans Memorial Tunnels project, in the US, won the award for roads and highways.
For its automated design of civil and architectural structures in South Korea, Hyundai Engineering won the structural engineering award.
Arcadis won the subsurface modelling and analysis category award for the South Dock Bridge project, in London, while Italferr won the surveying and monitoring category for its digital twin of St. Peter’s Basilica, in Vatican City.
PowerChina Hubei Electric Engineering won the award for best project in the transmission and distribution category, following its creation of a full lifecycle digital application on the Xianning Chibi 500 kV substation, in China.
Lastly, Project Controls was named the winner of the water and wastewater category for its EchoWater project, in California.
This year’s Going Digital Awards focused on recognising project excellence in applying Bentley Systems' infrastructure intelligence software, including the iTwin Platform.
Digital twins are increasingly being used to optimise decision-making and operations.
