In the C-8 block, off the shore of Mauritania, and in the Saint-Louis Profond block, off the shore of Senegal.

Project Description
The GTA project will produce gas from an ultradeep-water subsea system, and a midwater floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The FPSO will process natural gas – removing condensate, water and other impurities – before exporting it by pipeline to the project’s FLNG facilities, 10 km offshore. With eight processing and production modules, the FPSO will process an estimated 500-million standard cubic feet of gas a day. 

The joint venture partners are also evaluating potential expansion beyond Phase 1 of up to ten-million tonnes a year in subsequent phases.

Potential Job Creation
The FPSO will have up to 140 people on board during normal operation and serve as home for the project’s production team.

Project execution activities were expected to start in the first quarter of 2019. First gas for the project is expected in 2022.

Latest Developments
bp has reported that the FPSO vessel for the GTA LNG project has started its journey towards the project site off the coasts of Mauritania and Senegal.

The FPSO set sail on January 20, 2023, from Qidong, in China, after successfully completing a series of sea trials following construction over the past three-and-half years. It will now travel 12 000 nautical miles via Singapore to its final destination – about 40 km offshore on the maritime border of the neighbouring countries.
