From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report.

Sashnee Moodley: The Johannesburg Property Company invited media in June to view some of its property initiatives around the city, which includes the refurbishment of two heritage sites. David Oliveira tells us more.

David Oliveira:
On the first stop of the tour media were allowed to enter the iconic post office on Rissik Street. Engineering News caught up with the lead architect on the project Paradigm Architects’ James Wylie.

Next on the tour was a stop at the Johannesburg Council Chamber, which was recently completed at a development cost of about R280-million.

The JPC is now involved in improving the appeal of the areas around the new council chamber to entice passers-by to spend time in a vibrant and safe environment.

Bayete Capital senior development manager Paul Spencer:

David Oliveira:
Finally, media got the opportunity to view the iconic Jabulani Amphitheatre, another heritage site, located on the grounds of the award-winning Soweto Theatre. The amphitheatre was the location where in 1985 Zindzi Mandela famously read her father Nelson Mandela’s letter to then South African President PW Botha.
