Latest LED luminaire range to be showcased at AUW
THE OPTIWAY A low-power LED bulkhead luminaire that can be mounted on any structure
Luminaires manufacturer BEKA Schréder will showcase its latest light-emitting diode (LED) luminaire range at African Utility Week (AUW), which will be held in Cape Town from May 15 to 17.
The range – designed and manufactured in South Africa – includes the Ziya LED street- light, the Kazelle solution, the LEDlume-mini XP and the Optiway luminaire, which were all launched locally in February.
The Ziya is an affordable LED streetlight, with a thermal design to deliver a high-performing energy efficient lighting solution for various landscapes, including roads, pedestrian zones, car parks and outdoor area lighting.
The Ziya consists of a marine grade aluminium housing and hinged polycarbonate protector. The protector is fixed by hinges offering tool-less access to the gear and optical compartment. To maximise the reliability of the LEDs, the photometric engine and control gear compartment are completely sealed to IP 65. This ensures that the photometric performance is maintained over time.
“We will market this product to industry decision-makers, such as the municipalities, electrical contractors and engineers, as well as consultants in the African market attending the expo,” says BEKA Schréder senior communications officer Nadja Smith.
She describes the Kazelle as a reliable, efficient, vandal-resistant and sustainable lighting solution that reduces energy consumption and improves visual comfort for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Its minimalistic and modern look was designed to the compactness of the LED engine.
The 4000 K neutral white and 3000 K warm white versions are cost effective and emit glare-free light, while the photocell and Owlet control systems for autonomous and interoperable networks are optional.
The LEDlume-mini XP is an LED streetlight equipped with an LED engine, comprising the LED light source and power supply, and spigot compartment. The photometrical engine is sealed to IP 66, maximising reliability.
Each LED is equipped with a lens to provide the desired light distribution, with the luminaire housing also manufactured from marine-grade aluminium. Further advantages include possible energy savings of more than 70% and an easy-to-install design.
The Optiway is a low-power LED bulkhead luminaire with high photometric performance, it can be mounted on any structure and uses the latest LED technology and optical distribution suitable for most lighting applications.
“The Optiway is best suited for use in underground haulage, outdoor mining areas, oil and gas refineries, food and beverage plants, manufacturing process plants and any other applications that require a low power and robust luminaire,” says Smith.
Its advantages include a maintenance-free life span of 50 000 operating hours, and several mounting options, which include the optional Optilink, which is a plug-in system that simplifies the installation process, especially for underground mining applications.
Further, the company will also exhibit existing technologies: the Owlet range of control solutions, which is a combination of an in-depth performing city streetlighting management application capable of exchanging data or interoperating with Internet of Things (IoT).
SOL-ONE, BEKA Schréder’s all-in-one, plug-and-play LED solar-powered lighting system designed for all geographic locations in Africa will also be on the company’s stand.
The OMNIstar floodlight range, according to Smith, is designed to provide a combination of performance and flexibility for lighting areas where high lumen packages are needed, while offering maximum savings in energy and maintenance costs with a short payback time.
The Shuffle, is a smart lighting column that can integrate up to five modules in each column to suit the specific requirements of the environment. The modules are light, control systems, light ring, WLAN, CCTV cameras, loudspeakers and EV chargers.
The company has been exhibiting at the AUW since 2016 and the company’s stand will be located at booth number C9A this year.
“With this range of products, we are hoping to reach decision-makers in the power and energy value chains to showcase our capabilities to deliver and offer high-quality, locally designed and manufactured energy efficient lighting solutions to these sectors,” concludes Smith.
