Access Bank South Africa appoints Sandile Shabalala CEO
Financial services firm Access Bank South Africa has appointed Sandile Shabalala CEO to lead the bank into its next phase of growth and innovation.
Shabalala has more than three decades of experience in the banking sector and has a proven record of driving growth and managing risk.
Shabalala previously served as Sasfin Bank business and commercial banking CE, where he led the establishment and development of the Business Banking division. His responsibilities included building, enhancing and growing transactional banking and products, and achieving sustainable financial performance, among others.
He also served as TymeBank CEO, where he successfully led the bank's launch and established it as a disruptive force in the South African banking industry. Under his leadership, TymeBank received accolades for its commitment to financial inclusion and innovative digital banking solutions, Access Bank said.
Shabalala holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Durban-Westville, as well as a Master's in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa.
He also completed executive education programmes at renowned institutions, such as Harvard Business School and INSEAD Business School.
