Adams & Adams, an internationally recognized and leading African law firm, is proud to announce the opening of a franchise office in Mauritius, marking a significant milestone in the firm’s strategy to enhance its legal service offerings across Africa.

“Mauritius is one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, with a robust legal framework and strategic location for international business, particularly between Africa and Asia. Our franchise office in the country will build on the existing presence of Adams & Adams in the jurisdiction and serve as a key hub for the firm’s operations in the Indian Ocean region. This aligns with our vision to deliver high-quality legal solutions to clients as they navigate the complexities of Africa’s legal and regulatory landscape, both now and in the future,” says Simon Brown, Adams & Adams Partner and Chairperson of the Africa Strategy Committee.

The new office, located in Port Louis, will focus strongly on intellectual property (IP) services, with scope to broaden its commercial, corporate and property practices in the Indian Ocean region. Led by lawyers Jason Dewkurun and Anas Rawat, who have extensive experience in the local legal landscape, the dedicated team in Mauritius will work closely with Adams & Adams in South Africa and the Adams & Adams Africa Network (AAAN) to strengthen the firm’s expertise, drive innovation and add value to clients across the African continent.

“We’re excited about joining the Adams & Adams team, which has a highly recognized IP presence on the African continent. As the dedicated office in Mauritius, we aim to provide on-the-ground knowledge and tailored professional advice in the jurisdiction, which also serves as a gateway for opportunities in the Indian Ocean region to help clients realize their further growth potential,” says Jason, joint managing partner of Adams & Adams Mauritius.

The Adams & Adams Mauritius franchise follows the opening of the firm’s first franchise office in Mozambique in 2008. As part of the firm’s commitment to enhancing its offerings in the territories in which it operates, Adams & Adams established the AAAN, which currently stands at 23 Associate Offices across Africa and includes offices in the headquarter countries of the OAPI and ARIPO regional organisations, Cameroon, and Zimbabwe respectively.

A proudly African firm, Adams & Adams is well known for its leading role and exceptional services in IP. This expertise is complemented by class-leading capabilities in dispute resolution, commercial, and real estate law. The firm, its partners, and professionals are consistently featured in the top tier rankings of respected global rating agencies such as Legal 500, Chambers Global Directory, Managing IP, Who's Who Legal, IAM Patent 1000, World Trademark Review, and Best Lawyers.
