Werne, in the southern Münsterland region of Germany.

Project Description
RWE is planning to build hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants at its power plant sites, in Germany, to contribute to a successful coal phase-out by 2030. This includes a proposed H2-ready CCGT power plant with a nominal capacity of about 800 MW at the Gersteinwerk power plant.

At the time of commissioning, the plant should be able to use a fuel mix with a hydrogen content of at least 50%. The aim is to operate the plant using only hydrogen at a later stage.

According to current planning, the plant in Werne could start producing electricity by 2030.
