Battery-powered LED light towers introduced
A battery-powered light emitting diode (LED) light tower which promises zero noise and emissions, with operating times of up to 32 hours, has been launched.
The light uses lithium-ion batteries that offer up to 20% more depth of discharge (DoD) than lead-acid and gel batteries. In addition, the lithium-ion batteries provide three times more energy density and a lifetime of 6 000 cycles, equivalent to six times more than alternative technologies.
The light towers run for up to 32 hours and require a charging time of six hours, directly from auxiliary, grid or portable generator supply units.
The environment-friendly lights release no emissions, with a potential yearly reduction of 1 t of carbon dioxide emissions and diesel savings of more than 1 000 l. In addition, the near-silent battery-operated lights reduce noise pollution in urban environments.
Comprising a high luminosity lamp assembly of 4 x 160 W LEDs with a life expectancy of 50 000 hours, Atlas Copco’s HiLight Z3+ lights deliver light distribution over a 3000 m2 illumination area through specially-designed directional glass optics.
Supported by a hydraulically elevated, vertical mast, with wind-stable certification up to 80 km/h at a maximum operating height of 8 m, the LED lighting units operate in environments with temperature ranges of minus 20 °C to 50 °C.
With dimensions of 1 160 x 1 160 x 2 500 mm, up to 22 units can be accommodated on a 13 m truck. The light towers are fitted with a galvanised steel canopy and powder-coated paintwork, providing all-weather protection. In addition, easily accessible parts facilitate maintenance of the units.
