Project Owner/s
Al Baidaa Desalination Company, a consortium comprising Acciona (50%), Green of Africa (45%) and AfriquiaGaz (5%), under a public–private partnership contract with Morocco’s Office National de l’Électricité et de l’Eau.

Project Description
The plant will produce 300-million cubic metres a year of water for the consumption by 7.5-million people and for potential agricultural use.

The plant will produce 250-million cubic metres of drinking water and up to 50-million cubic metres for agriculture a year, significantly supporting local economic and social development. It will be the world’s largest reverse osmosis facility powered entirely by renewables, using 47% of the 360 MW Bir Anzarane Wind Farm’s output.
