Choosing the right generator
Selecting the correct generator for a home or business should be based on output needs and the overall longevity of the equipment to ensure that the investment is appropriate and effective, says local generator specialist Smith Power Equipment.
The company notes that it stocks only professional- (pro-) grade generators to ensure that customers select the most appropriate equipment to meet their needs. Its range includes units from global manufacturers Kubota, John Deere and Cummins.
“Paired with iconic French-made Leroy Somer alternators to produce single-phase household current or three-phase industrial power efficiently and reliably, Smith Power Generators are at the pinnacle of pro-grade generation power,” says Smith Power Equipment’s Renier Potgieter.
He explains that the engine and alternator combination must be perfectly matched to the alternator to ensure it delivers the specified output without over- or under-stressing the engine, to ensure optimum fuel consumption and reliability of the engine. The electrical interface, mountings and assembly also contribute to the durability of the equipment, he adds.
“Having reliable power available when you need it during planned or unexpected power cuts is not negotiable and should never be an issue with pro-grade generators. Low-noise levels are usually also an important requirement and Smith Power Generators have this as a standard feature for a quiet and comfortable environment, both at home and in the workplace. Super silent units are also available for office parks and residential applications,” adds Potgieter.
Smith Power Generators pro-grade generators are available for all segments with a range from 12 kVA to 2 500 kVA, offering single-phase generators for residential use and custom-built industrial generators with standard 400 V and 525 V options.
