Filter firm expands manufacturing, distribution infrastructure
Filter product manufacturer Balwin Filters relocated and upgraded its manufacturing and distribution facilities in Cape Town in March, in a move aimed at promoting continued company growth following the similar upgrade to the company’s distribution centre in Johannesburg.
Baldwin Filters increased its warehousing and office space to 6 000 m2 from its previous 4 000 m2 C-grade building and is now located in the Atlas Gardens Industrial Park, north of the greater Cape Town metropolitan area.
Baldwin Filters MD Angelo Sardo tells Engineering News that significant company growth over the years necessitated the need to upgrade both the manufacturing and warehousing operations with improved equipment and processes to better serve its customers through innovative equipment and improved production processes.
“An ergonomic workflow through our production processes has resulted in much improved productivity, as well as a propitious work environment. Our distribution centre has doubled its capacity, which has allowed us to efficiently deal with our customers and suppliers,” he says.
In addition to improving its service capabilities for its existing and potential clients, the company is able to expand its manufacturing and distribution capabilities with its larger, upgraded warehouse and office space.
With this move, Sardo hopes that the company, which manufactures more than 6 000 filter products, will remain competitive in the market and provide high-quality customer service, along with job creation.
