Australian network solutions provider Swift announced earlier this month that it had secured a new three-year partnership agreement with holding company Roy Hill Holdings to service its “world-class” Roy Hill Mine Permanent Village.

Swift’s flagship product, Swift Access, will be installed in 2 374 accommodation rooms, 17 executive rooms, and 20 common areas. It will allow workers based at the mine village to cast their favourite streaming apps from their mobile device straight to their rooms’ televisions (TVs), all while maintaining user privacy and offering smart device setup and management to improve efficiencies for facility staff.

As part of the agreement, Swift will also install a new Village WiFi Network for 2 374 accommodation rooms and 20 common areas.

In addition to casting, Swift Access will provide workers with Swift’s full content library including first release movies and sector-specific mental health and indigenous education resources.

Swift Access also allows facility managers to upload and distribute site information, such as inductions and health and safety messages, directly to TVs across the site.

The entire Swift Access experience is managed by Swift’s bandwidth management platform and includes support services over the term. Swift CEO Brian Mangano, at the time of the announcement said, “for the past eight years, Roy Hill and Swift have enjoyed a strong partnership based on the mutual values of innovation and high- performance outcomes. This latest collaboration is a natural next step in Swift’s mission to assist Roy Hill in providing an outstanding workplace experience”.

He added that the Swift team was excited by a continued partnership and looked forward to working together to create new innovative solutions to the challenges of the “fly-in, fly-out lifestyle”.

This contract is composed of installation fees in the fourth quarter of the 2022 financial year (FY22), and recurring revenues for a minimum of three years with two 12-month extension options.

The total contract value of the three-year term is from $3.5-million, increasing with additional room usage and issue of further Call-Off Agreements under the Framework Agreement.

Other Projects

In February, Swift announced that it had started delivery of seven new projects for key mining and resources clients Rio Tinto, Roy Hill, Strandline, Oz Minerals and South32.

As part of these projects, Swift will be upgrading and installing its various network solutions which have been designed and deployed by Swift’s in-house team. The total contract value of these agreements is A$1.2-million revenues currently being delivered in the second half (H2) of FY22.

Mangano noted: “These new projects not only represent an increase in project activity but are the result of long-standing relationships between Swift and resource sector clients. Maintained by the talent and expertise of our entire team [. . .] we are excited to see the positive impact that these upgrades have on our clients and their workforces. Along with the delivery of previously announced Aged Care projects for Resthaven, Japara and Mark Moran over recent weeks, we’re pleased to see this strong start to H2.”

Swift Access

Swift Access is a low-bandwidth entertainment and communications solution specifically designed for closed loop accommodation facilities. It uses a set-top box in a resident’s room connected to a server in the communications room of the facility. The company explains that this means that there is no need for smart TVs or robust hardware and that installation is relatively simple for most facilities.

“Swift Access’ smart device management is the first solution of its kind for the sectors we service in Australia and gives [entities] the ability to easily set up casting devices, monitor them and manage streaming traffic within [the operation] on a commercial scale.”

Further, secure in-room pairing through the top box also ensures residents’ personal information is kept safe with no way for residents to stream to other rooms.

Swift Access enables companies to distribute information to village residents using their TVs through the “easy-to-use” content management system, Swift Manage. Facilities also have the ability to upload their welcome material or educational content to the same platform for a unified facility experience.

Further, Swift Manage enables staff of all skill levels to easily distribute updates around the facility using a digital noticeboard. There are existing templates ready for staff to use or they can upload their own content in line with the company’s standards. Communications can be managed at a facility or company level, ensuring that all residents are receiving the same notices and that facilities are aligned on their messaging.

Once uploaded, these notices are immediately available on all residents’ screens and important notices can be promoted to the home screen to ensure they are seen by all residents.

About the Company

Swift is a specialist technology company delivering network infrastructure and entertainment and communications solutions across the mining, residential aged care, government and other sectors.

It states that it is Australia’s “largest digital media platform” to service the aforementioned sectors, and stresses that its “mature relationships with suppliers and decades of industry knowledge fuel [its] commitment to see [its] clients’ facilities become premium accommodation experiences”.

The first entertainment system was deployed in 2008 and entrenched Swift’s singular purpose: to provide “exceptional” site experiences for workers in remote environments.
