A hands-on cyber range that integrates realistic attack simulations with essential cyber recovery exercises has been developed to enable companies to defend systems against cyberthreats while equipping them with the skills required to navigate and recover data.

Cyber resilience and data protection solutions provider Commvault, and high-fidelity cyber range solutions provider SimSpace have jointly launched the Commvault Recovery Range, powered by SimSpace.

Unlike traditional cyber ranges that focus on detecting and containing attacks, the new solution models the defender’s own production environment. Utilising SimSpace’s cyber range platform and Commvault’s recovery offerings, the solution is designed to provide an immersive learning experience where defenders can practice the entire end-to-end incident lifecycle, from detection through validated clean point recovery.

The solution provides cyber defenders will hands-on attack simulations that mirror their actual networks, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations – complete with simulated users logging in and out, sending emails, and interacting with applications.

The real-world recovery exercises teach users the importance of validating backups, cleaning infected data, and executing swift restorations. Recovery exercises include using Commvault Cloud for threat scanning, Air Gap Protect for immutable storage, Cleanroom Recovery for on-demand recovery testing, and Cloud Rewind to automatically rebuild cloud-native apps, so that defenders can recover their business rapidly, without reinfecting it.

The system includes drills that bring disparate teams together to emerge with a cohesive strategy for handling crises and restoring core services swiftly.
