Olaf Petersen has joined Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) as its new sales and marketing VP, effective July 1.

Petersen will be responsible for the new-vehicle sales portfolio for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Fuso in the Southern Africa region.

His appointment follows the promotion of his predecessor, Maretha Gerber, to DTSA president and group CEO earlier in the year.

Petersen holds degrees in engineering and business from universities in Germany, the UK and Spain. He joined Daimler in 1998.

Over the past 26 years he was responsible for various roles in sales, service, marketing, product management and body-builder management across Mercedes-Benz Vans, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Mercedes-Benz Buses in Germany, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, the US and the United Arab Emirates.

Before his move to South Africa, he headed up sales and marketing for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Fuso at Daimler Truck Middle East and Africa in Dubai.
