Eskom and DMRE leadership among industry luminaires speaking at Enlit Africa Keynote sessions

Enlit Africa, the continent's premier energy conferences, is proud to announce a highly anticipated keynote session featuring Eskom's Group Chief Executive Dan Marokane and Chief Finance Officer Calib Cassim. Taking place on May 21st, this session is a follow on from the discussion held in 2023, and promises to offer unparalleled insights into the future of Eskom and the new leadership direction.
Under the moderation of James Mackay, CEO of the Energy Council, the discussion is poised to tackle some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities within the energy sector. As Eskom continues efforts to stabilize energy supply in South Africa, the contributions from Marokane and Cassim will be of great interest to all stakeholders in the industry.
Delivering the keynote at this year’s event is Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Hon Gwede Mantashe; and he will be joined by Hon Nobuhle Pamela Nkabane, Deputy Minister, Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and Director General for the Department, Jacob Mbele.
Adding to the weight of the session, are representatives from GE Vernova and the City of Cape Town, to add to the diverse mix of representation ensures that multiple perspectives will shape the plenary session of Enlit Africa.
The Enlit Africa conference is set to provide a comprehensive platform for discussion on the future of energy in Africa, encompassing issues from generation, transmission and distribution to technological innovation and sustainability.
Day 2 of the conference aims to delve deeper into the enablers of a low-carbon transition. Noteworthy speakers, such as Sabine Dall'Omo, CEO, Siemens Sub-Saharan Africa, and Abel Tella from the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), will provide their expert perspectives.
A focal point of Day 2 will be the presentation by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) of their new Africa Green Business and Financing Flagship Report. This report is expected to generate significant attention, as it lays out a roadmap for sustainable economic growth and investment opportunities within the green business sector in Africa.
Participants at Enlit Africa can anticipate forward-thinking discussions, data-driven insights, and actionable strategies aimed at moving the African energy sector towards a sustainable and profitable future. The collective expertise of speakers and organizations are at the forefront of the industry, all aligning towards a shared vision: to provide Africa with reliable, affordable, and clean energy.
