US-based retail multinational Walmart will open its first branded store in South Africa on November 22, at Clearwater Mall in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, marking its official entry into the country.

The store will be a modern, spacious shopping destination that is designed to meet the evolving needs of South African customers, the company says in a statement.

The Clearwater Mall location will showcase trusted local and international brands, thereby ensuring a diverse selection that meets the preferences and needs of families across Johannesburg.

It will stock a wide and carefully curated assortment of quality products ranging from groceries and household essentials to electronics and apparel, which will be offered at Walmart’s signature ‘Every Day Low Prices’.

For example, the international aisles will offer a taste of the world, including confectionery and beverages from the US, Dubai and the UK, including Pickle-in-a-Pouch and Sour Patch Kids candy.

The store will also have Col’Cacchio pizzas, VSG Italian pasta, frozen meals, Crumbs and Cream Cookie ice cream, Sparta Beef steaks and roasts, as well as a range of air fryers.

For toys, it will stock Fuggler and Labubu toys, Hot Wheels and a Bricks range.

Its electronics aisles will have the PS5 Slim and Pro and Hisense TVs.

Beauty products will include Catrice and Essence ranges, Walmart says.

The store hours will be from 08:00 to 20:00 on Monday to Saturday, and from 09:00 to 17:00 on Sundays and public holidays.

The company says its promise to South African customers is to provide high-quality products at prices they can trust.
