TSX-V-listed Giyani Metals Corp has secured a 50-year special economic zone (SEZ) investor licence for its battery-grade manganese commercial plant site, in Botswana.

The licence designates Giyani’s commercial plant, which will be located adjacent to the company’s K.Hill manganese mine, as a single factory SEZ.

As an SEZ investor licence holder, the company will benefit from a range of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives that enhance project viability and operational efficiency, including reduced tax rates, zero-rated value-added tax on raw materials for export and operational support from the Botswana government, besides others.

Giyani says this milestone underscores the company’s commitment to driving sustainable economic growth in Botswana, while solidifying its role in the global supply chain for critical battery materials.

“Securing the SEZ licence for our commercial plant is a transformative step for Giyani, and an important milestone on our path to becoming a leading producer of battery-grade manganese, particularly as our demo plant nears first production and we look ahead to the next stages of progress,” comments Giyani president and CEO Charles FitzRoy.
