National Energy Regulator of South Africa- (Nersa-) licensed renewable-energy buyer and trader Africa GreenCo has announced that Isabel Fick will be joining the company as group head of trading and operations in 2026, following the completion of her duties at the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA).

In a media release, GreenCo explains that Fick continues to serve State-owned Eskom and the newly established NTCSA during this important period of transition for South Africa’s electricity sector.

Her move to GreenCo will take effect only once her responsibilities at the NTCSA have been fully and formally concluded, ensuring continuity and supporting the integrity of the sector-wide reforms now under way.

GreenCo notes that Fick has, throughout her career, played a defining role in South Africa’s system operations landscape.

The company describes Fick as having been central to strengthening national grid reliability, modernising operational practice and laying the foundations for South Africa’s evolving electricity market structure.

GreenCo says her contribution to the sector is widely acknowledged, adding that her leadership has helped guide the country through some of the most complex shifts in its energy history.

The company says Fick’s future role at GreenCo reflects the growing importance of collaboration between utilities and responsible market participants.

“Her transition is not a loss to the public sector but a continuation of her service to the country – bringing her unparalleled experience into a role that supports the creation of a stable, liquid, rules-based electricity market.

“She remains, unequivocally, an asset to the South African energy sector. At GreenCo, she will help advance a future in which public institutions and private innovators work side by side to build a resilient, modernised power system for South Africa and the region,” says GreenCo.

“We are delighted that Isabel will be joining GreenCo once she completes her duties at Eskom and the NTCSA. Her leadership has been pivotal to South Africa’s electricity reform journey.

“Isabel’s expertise, integrity and sector-wide respect make her one of the most significant voices in our energy transition – and she will continue to be an asset to the country as we move into a new era of market design and system innovation in collaboration with the public sector,” comments GreenCo founder and CEO Ana Hajduka.
