The Southern African Vinyls Association (SAVA) is proud to announce that Kevin Bates Access Flooring (KBAC) has officially joined its growing list of members. A respected leader in the South African flooring industry, KBAC brings decades of professionalism, experience and innovation to the table. Their decision to become a SAVA member underscores a shared commitment to product stewardship, sustainability, and industry collaboration.

“For more than 55 years, KBAC Flooring has been bringing inspiring flooring solutions to South African homes, corporate offices and the hospitality sector. Our product offering includes a wide range of top-quality flooring sourced from both global and local market leaders, including the Vanguard Collection Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT). We also supply and install a wide range of vinyl floors and LVTs manufactured by other brands. However, all installations are handled by our own, professionally trained KBAC staff, ensuring that each project meets the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. This reputation has earned them the title of flooring contractor of choice,” says Jason Liebenberg, Marketing Manager at KBAC.

Commenting on why it was important for KBAC to join SAVA, Liebenberg says: “The vinyl flooring industry is rapidly growing and expanding in South Africa. It is important to communicate to our customers that our floors are safe, sustainable and responsible in that they meet SAVA’s Product Stewardship Commitment criteria. We are also excited to be part of, and actively support, SAVA’s collection and recycling project for vinyl floor off-cuts to reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfill”.

SAVA’s Product Stewardship Commitment (PSC) sets a benchmark for quality, environmental responsibility and social accountability in the vinyl industry. By becoming a SAVA member and a signatory of the PSC, KBAC has pledged to meet criteria relating to the responsible manufacture, use, and end-of-life management of vinyl flooring products—ensuring transparency, traceability, and ethical conduct throughout the product lifecycle.

Monique Hinds, CEO of SAVA, welcomed KBAC Flooring into the association: “KBAC is a well-respected and established name in the South African flooring industry. Their decision to become a SAVA member sends a strong signal to the market that they are committed to best practice, environmental responsibility and industry collaboration. We look forward to working closely with KBAC as part of our ongoing mission to support the local vinyl sector and grow our recycling and circular economy initiatives.”

Vinyl flooring continues to gain popularity across various sectors thanks to its wide range of benefits. In addition to offering exceptional aesthetic appeal—such as realistic wood and stone finishes—vinyl flooring is also known for being easy to clean, low maintenance, durable, moisture resistant, and cost-effective. These qualities make it an attractive option for busy households, high-traffic commercial areas, and hospitality environments where performance and presentation are equally important.

As a new member of SAVA, KBAC will participate in national initiatives aimed at increasing the collection and recycling of vinyl floors, particularly post-installation off-cuts that are traditionally overlooked in waste management efforts. SAVA has spearheaded several successful projects in this space, including collaborative recovery models that involve retailers, contractors and recyclers working together to divert vinyl waste from landfill and reintroduce it into the value chain.

This partnership also opens up new avenues for networking, industry learning, and technical support, as SAVA provides a collaborative platform for manufacturers, distributors, specifiers and recyclers to come together and share ideas, innovations and solutions.

“By aligning with SAVA’s sustainability efforts and circular economy goals, KBAC is not only enhancing its own environmental credentials but also helping to move the entire industry forward, With KBAC now part of the SAVA family, the local vinyl flooring industry is set to benefit from enhanced cohesion, greater transparency, and a more united front when it comes to promoting the many advantages of vinyl flooring—backed by industry best practice and responsible environmental stewardship,” Hinds concludes.
