As cities worldwide race to adapt to the rapid growth of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), Enlit Africa will host an exclusive breakfast session bringing together global urban mobility leaders to address one of the most pressing challenges in the clean transportation transition: scaling charging infrastructure.

The invitation-only event, titled “City Strategies for Scaling Charging Infrastructure for New Energy Vehicles,” will take place on May 20, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Hosted by VUKA Group and Smarter Mobility Africa, this high-level session will feature presentations from the City of Cape Town and C40 Cities, showcasing innovative approaches to overcoming energy challenges for NEV charging infrastructure. The session will highlight insights from the ZEBRA Project and spotlight Cape Town's leadership in NEV adoption and infrastructure development.

“With NEV adoption accelerating globally, cities need practical strategies to rapidly scale charging infrastructure while addressing grid capacity challenges,” said Anazi Piper, Mobility Content & Stakeholder Manager at VUKA Group. “This breakfast session creates a critical platform for knowledge exchange among urban mobility leaders working at the forefront of this transition.”

The program includes a panel discussion featuring representatives from the City of Cape Town, C40 Cities, and City Con, exploring both challenges and opportunities cities face in building sustainable charging networks.

Limited to just 30 key stakeholders from cities, municipalities, and provinces worldwide, this focused session provides attendees with:

• Firsthand insights into Cape Town's leadership on NEVs and clean transport

• Access to global best practices via C40 Cities and the ZEBRA Project

• Practical strategies to accelerate city-wide NEV infrastructure deployment

• Networking opportunities with public and private sector mobility leaders

The breakfast session aligns with the broader clean mobility and energy transition themes featured across Enlit Africa, Smarter Mobility Africa (SMA), and Africa's Green Economy Summit.
