Project Description
The Orlando eKhaya and Power Park precincts form part of the City of Johannesburg’s broader spatial and socioeconomic strategy, which aims to deliver affordable basic services, promote sustainable transport, create green public spaces, tackle urban inequality and drive inclusive economic development.
The project spans 24 ha, with combined developments expected to deliver an estimated 5 964 residential units.
Several developments are either complete or in progress, including:
- student housing comprising 2 300 beds;
- first-home finance and subsidy assistance housing, of which 648 units are under development;
- social housing (Erfs 47 and 48), for which a combined 1 740 units are planned; both sites are zoned, proclaimed and have bulk service connections installed; and
- Reconstruction and Development Programme housing, for which more than 2 000 units are planned across several plots, including Power Park Ext 2 and Orlando eKhaya Erfs 22, 23, and 24.
