Leguan lifts introduced onto South African market

HIGH PLATFORM The Leguan lifts provide outstanding working height with stability
As part of expanding its product range, multitask articulated loader importer Avant South Africa (SA) started importing Leguan access lifts, developed and manufactured in Finland for maintenance purposes.
Avant SA manager Steyn le Grange states that the first lift arrived in August in Boksburg and was rented out by telecommunication services specialist distributor and provider Dartcom SA in September, while the second one was delivered to Cape Town last month.
The Leguan lift, which is available with tracks or four-wheel drive wheels, is equipped with a new leaf chain design three-stage telescope boom designed to make the outreach excellent at different stages on the building site. The boom also has built-in sensors for length and inclination. It also comprises direct hydraulic control for boom movements.
The 2.11-m-high lift includes manual and automatic levelling, which has an automatic outreach monitoring system and allowed outreach depends on work cage load. Wireless remote control for driving and outrigger operation are optional, adds Le Grange. The lifts also comprise an automatic revolution control system for diesel engines and 220 V electrical drive motors.
Meanwhile, he explains that the Leguan lift is designed for heavy-duty professional and rental use. The lifts have been designed with durability, strength and user friendliness in mind. The lift can rotate 360º and the basket about 45º on a pivot point. The basket can hold a maximum load of 230 kg at a working height of 19 m.
The lift is also useful for private users, construction companies executing interior construction, installation companies dealing with air conditioning and electric appliances, as well as industrial maintenance.
Further, Le Grange says the uncomplicated design of the Leguan makes it a reliable and trouble-free access platform.
Leguan rental
Dartcom SA hired the lift for electrical maintenance. Using the Leguan 165 lift, the company completed its maintenance requirement within a week.
Meanwhile, Le Grange says Dartcom SA CEO Chris Alberts was impressed with the way in which the lift was operating and the short time in which maintenance was completed.
Subsequently, Avant SA has received several enquires, with an electrical company willing to hire the lift for a three-month tender, Le Grange concludes.
