Lincoln inks native title agreement for uranium exploration at Jungle Dam
ASX-listed Lincoln Minerals has signed a native title mining agreement with Gawler Ranges Aboriginal, paving the way for exploration at its Jungle Dam uranium prospect in South Australia.
The agreement grants exploration access to exploration licence 5942 and has been submitted to the Department for Energy and Mining for registration.
Lincoln Minerals acknowledged the Gawler Ranges people as the Traditional Owners of the land encompassing the licence area.
“This agreement is a significant milestone and an important step towards ensuring that our exploration activities are undertaken in a manner that reflects our commitment to transparency, mutual respect, and the recognition and protection of cultural heritage,” the company said in a statement.
Previous scout drilling at Jungle Dam returned uranium intersections of up to 570 parts per million uranium oxide, with hole WCRC008 noted as a key result. A reinterpretation of historical gravity data, alongside new datasets released by the South Australian government, has enhanced the geological model and accelerated drill targeting.
With the agreement now in place, Lincoln says it is positioned to advance exploration at Jungle Dam with the support of the Gawler Ranges people.
“Finalising this agreement marks a major milestone for our exploration efforts at Jungle Dam,” said Lincoln Minerals CEO Jonathon Trewartha.
“We are pleased to be working in respectful partnership with the Gawler Ranges Aboriginal Corporation as we advance exploration in this highly prospective area. While our work at Jungle Dam is in its early stages, we are committed to building a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship with the Traditional Owners.”
