Name of the Project
LNG Canada export facility.

Location
Kitimat, British Columbia, in Canada, in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation.

Project Owner/s
LNG Canada is a joint venture (JV) comprising Shell, through its affiliate Shell Canada Energy (40%); PETRONAS, through its wholly owned entity, North Montney LNG Limited Partnership (25%); PetroChina Company, through its subsidiary PetroChina Canada (15%); Mitsubishi Corporation, through its subsidiary Diamond LNG Canada (15%); and Korea Gas Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary Kogas Canada LNG (5%). It is operated through LNG Canada Development Inc.

Project Description
LNG Canada is a long-life asset that will initially export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from two processing units, or trains, totalling 14-million tonnes a year, with the potential to expand to four trains in the future. Every LNG Canada JV participant will provide its own natural gas supply, and individually offtake and market its respective share of LNG from the project.

Construction will be a modular LNG train design using proven technology.

The construction of the 670 km Coastal GasLink pipeline from the LNG plant to Shell’s Groundbirch field will be undertaken by Trans Canada, which will be the owner and operator of the pipeline.

The project includes an option for a future Phase 2 expansion, which could include the construction of two additional LNG trains, bringing total capacity to 28-million tonnes a year.

Potential Job Creation
More than 50c000 Canadians have worked on the LNG Canada venture.

Capital Expenditure
The total estimated development cost of the plant is about $14-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The first cargo of LNG left the Canada facility in June 2025.
