Steinmüller Africa, in partnership with Eskom, reaffirmed its commitment to social upliftment by donating essential goods and creating meaningful connections to two impactful community organisations in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga.

On 18 and 20 June, the Steinmüller Africa and Eskom Duvha Power Station team visited Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare and the Elkana Educational Centre, delivering groceries, toiletries and sanitary towels to each. These donations are part of the company’s broader initiative to give back to the communities surrounding its operations.

Elkana Educational Centre, a private, non-profit institution, provides care and education for children with diverse abilities from disadvantaged backgrounds. The school caters for learners across the pre-junior, junior, intermediate and senior phases. The school welcomed the Steinmüller Africa team for a morning filled with play and connection. Activities included netball, football and much to the learner’s delight, time on the playground swings.

“This contribution will go a long way in supporting the children. The time spent with them today will leave a lasting impression,” said Stacey Jansen, Principal, Elkana Educational Centre.

Meanwhile, Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare, which has served the community for more than 87 years, also received donations. The organisation plays a vital role in child protection and social welfare services throughout the greater eMalahleni area.

"Our ability to serve our beneficiaries depends heavily on the generosity of businesses like Steinmüller Africa and Eskom. This support makes a tangible difference in the lives of many,” said Lerato J Bam, Board Secretary, Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare.

Thomas Maduna, Acting Project Manager for Steinmüller Africa Duvha Power Station, spoke at both handovers, underlining Steinmüller Africa’s enduring commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“We continuously strive to bring about change and give back to the communities around us. While these donations offer immediate relief, they also instil pride among our employees, many of whom live in these very communities. Knowing their company is actively effecting positive change is both motivating and meaningful,” said Maduna.

Maduna’s words echo a broader philosophy that runs through Steinmüller Africa.

"At Steinmüller Africa, we believe that meaningful change begins with showing up and truly engaging with the communities around us. It is not just about what we give, but how we connect. These moments of shared humanity remind us why we do what we do. We don’t only build infrastructure, but also hope, dignity and lasting relationships,” says Moso Bolofo, Steinmüller Africa Director.

Through initiatives like these, Steinmüller Africa continues to demonstrate its core belief: that true progress comes not only through industrial advancement, but through compassion, inclusivity and shared growth.
