NJR Steel broadens footprint with acquisition of Staalbeer Steel Merchants - adding three new branches to the Group
NJR Steel, a leading South African steel and hardware supplier, has announced that they will be broadening their footprint, increasing their capacity, and diversifying their products with the acquisition of Staalbeer Steel Merchants’ three branches in Potchefstroom, Vereeniging and Bothaville.
Acquiring Staalbeer will enable NJR Steel to offer localised service to our customers in these areas and to increase our network in strategic parts of the country, improving our distribution capabilities. It further strengthens our existing position as one of South Africa’s leading turnkey steel and related hardware suppliers, providing all your steel needs from the ground up. We are very excited about the future with Staalbeer becoming part of the NJR Steel Group, and this integral step in supporting our continuous efforts to further expand NJR within the Southern African region .” comments NJR Steel’s CEO, Colin Chapman.
NJR Steel has continuously grown since it was established in 1980 in Johannesburg, and has grounded itself as one of the largest steel and related hardware distributors in the country, offering customers a one-stop shop for all of their steel needs.
“Our customers real business needs are a key focus for us, and we also understand that cashflow can be limiting. Through our robust financial foundation, we can offer credit facilities to enable our customers to fulfil bigger orders and grow their businesses in ways that might not have otherwise been possible.” Chapman stated.
“We want to help ensure our customers business success, so part of our competitive advantage is that we can offer dependable stock availability and reliable, on-time deliveries.” NJR Steel has their own extensive fleet of delivery vehicles operating from strategically located branches across the country. The company’s large-scale central buying and warehousing facility in Brakpan means that NJR carries stock that can be supplied quickly to their nationwide branches, while still offering customers a friendly, localised service in those areas.
NJR Steel has also recently opened its first branch in Cape Town, expanding its network in the Western Cape region. While a few other large steel companies are becoming more centralised and moving towards operating from a single location, NJR Steel is broadening their footprint and opening more branches across the country. “We understand the importance of individual, local branches that can offer our customers a more personalised service, on-demand access, and quick and efficient deliveries.”
“This aquisition will further strengthen NJR’s strategic position to consistently provide our customers with the high levels of service and reliability they depend on us for.” Chapman stated.
