Name of the Project
Orom-Cross hydropower project.

Location
Uganda.

Project Owner/s
UK-based mineral exploration and development company Blencowe Resources.

Project Description
A low-cost, high-capacity power source is essential for Blencowe’s plan to develop a graphite beneficiation facility near the Karuma power station. To this end, Blencowe completed an initial hydropower study for the proposed project in February 2025. The study confirms the availability of abundant, low-cost, and renewable hydropower from the Ugandan national grid.

The study further concluded that Orom-Cross’s power demand of 12 MW, (Phase 2) increasing to 40 MW at full capacity, can be comfortably accommodated by the project. The project will make Orom-Cross one of the most environmentally responsible graphite projects globally.
