Queensland-focused gold explorer Pacgold on Wednesday announced the appointment of experienced geologist, Bruce Kendall, as a nonexecutive director.

Kendall brings more 30 years’ experience in managing mineral exploration from grassroots through to advanced brownfield projects, near-mine exploration, resource definition and feasibility studies and has held management and executive roles with companies such as AngloGold Ashanti, Independence Group, Jabiru Metals and Chalice Mining.

He played key roles in several discoveries including the world-class Tropicana gold deposit for which he was the joint recipient of Association of Mining and Exploration Company's Prospector of the Year Award in 2012; the Julimar platinum-group metals/nickel/copper deposit; and the Coyote gold deposit.

His appointment strengthens the depth and capability of the board as the company advances the Alice River gold project in Queensland.

“I am thrilled to have secured someone of Bruce’s calibre to join the Pacgold team. He is a results-oriented geologist with significant experience in the discovery of world-class deposits and understanding mineralisation systems. Given the results we have received to date, we are confident that we control a substantial mineralised system and his expertise aligns perfectly with our vision for Alice River,” said Pacgold MD Matthew Boyes.

“We continue to analyse the recent exploration results as we firm up our exploration plans for 2025, following the end of the wet season. The entire geology team is excited by the potential of Alice River and look forward to drilling recommencing as soon as practicable.”

Commenting on his appointment, Kendall said that the Alice River project had “something that few gold projects in Australia have which is the potential for multimillion-ounce deposits”.

“There aren’t many projects in a stable jurisdiction like Australia which have demonstrated gold mineralisation over a 12 km strike length, with much of it yet to be drilled. The Pacgold team has done a great job delineating a vast mineralised system with significant promise and I look forward to contributing my experience to this exciting opportunity."
