Robertson and Caine celebrates building its 3 000th boat in Cape Town
Cape Town-based sailing and power catamaran manufacturer Robertson and Caine has completed its 3 000th boat.
The hand-crafted vessel is a Leopard 40 Powercat, which is also the 2024 European Power Boat of the Year award winner.
Following a local celebration at the Robertson and Caine manufacturing facility, the boat will now be moved to the global stage at the La Grande Motte International Boat Show, in the South of France.
Since its founding more than three decades ago, Robertson and Caine has delivered vessels to customers across the world, including the US, Europe and the Mediterranean.
Robertson and Caine is the largest catamaran manufacturer in South Africa, building 200 of the roughly 300 boats built in the country in 2024.
"Reaching this incredible milestone is a testament to the dedication, innovation and craftsmanship that define the Robertson and Caine One Team,” says Robertson and Caine CEO Theo Loock.
“Since our founding, we have remained committed to designing and building world-class catamarans that inspire adventure and push the boundaries of performance, comfort and sustainability.”
Loock says there are a number of contributors to Robertson and Caine’s success, including THL Marine and the City of Cape Town, along with numerous local suppliers, such as Seascape Marine, NCS, Scott Bader, Simonis Voogd Design, Ullman Sails, Jo Fensham Yacht Upholstery, Pronto Clearing, Yacht Haulers, RCYC, Saertex, Central Boating and Manex Marine.
Robertson and Caine was founded by John Robertson and the late Jerry Caine 34 years ago.
The company has its manufacturing facility in Cape Town, with a sales, customer service, design and procurement team in Tampa, in the US.
