Slipring motor drives cement and mining industries
A new slipring motor designed and engineered for applications mainly in the cement and mining industries, has been launched.
The motor has a power range up to 4.5 MW and can be used in a range of applications including mills, crushers, conveyors and fans. It is designed and dimensioned for applications with high load inertia and low starting current requirements, conditions which are often experienced in the cement and mining industries.
The manufacturer asserts that in high torque applications, the motor reduces the mechanical stress on the complete installed equipment, potentially increasing plant availability, reducing wear and tear and extending the lifetime of the plant.
The motors can be integrated into SIDRIVE IQ applications and integration is facilitated by the use of three-dimensional motor models, aimed at speeding up plant integration processes.
The design is based on a modular platform concept, with lower weight but increased housing rigidity, aimed at improving flexibility and efficiency.
The high degree of standardisation is aimed at facilitating the acquisition of spare parts, potentially reducing operating costs and simplifying service. Machine covers are designed to be easily lifted, with service openings allowing access to the interior of the motor.
The insulation system uses global vacuum pressure impregnation technology to provide electrical, mechanical and thermal properties for increased reliability and a longer lifetime.
The Siemens Simotics HV M slipring motor is now available.
