Stellantis South Africa moves into new, merged head office
Stellantis South Africa (SA) has taken the next step in merging its various brands in the domestic market by moving into a combined new head office in Midrand, Gauteng.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles South Africa (FCA SA) and Peugeot Citroën South Africa (PCSA) in 2021 officially merged into Stellantis, reflecting the marriage between its parent companies.
Peugeot (Groupe PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) first announced their 50:50 merger in 2019.
Stellantis sells the Fiat, Fiat Professional, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Jeep, Peugeot, Opel and MOPAR brands in the domestic market.
The new South African head office combines the management of all of these brands under one roof.
The company’s new two-storey location also houses the Stellantis Learning Academy.
This facility includes a 100-seater auditorium, car display areas, seven training rooms and two computer labs.
The curriculum for dealers includes more than 20 courses delivered virtually and in-person, as well as more than 30 hours of e-learning per person.
The academy, as a registered skills provider, will also host skills development programmes for the South African youth.
These programmes also envisage fulfilling the requirements of Stellantis’ proposed new local manufacturing plant.
The new head office also accommodates hot desking, remote and hybrid working, meeting spaces and work pods, as well as more than 15 chill areas, aimed at “maximising productivity”.
In terms of the environment, the building boasts borehole water back-up and solar power solutions, while emergency diesel generators ensure uninterrupted electricity.
“Since the merger…we now have everybody under one roof and we look forward to strengthening our company culture by providing our most important assets – our people – a real place of work that they can call home,” says Stellantis SA CEO Leslie Ramsoomar.
The move to Midrand follows the consolidation of the brand’s various parts distribution centres into a common warehouse in December.
