UK-based Tirupati Graphite has appointed Michael David Lynch-Bell as nonexecutive chairperson.

He previously led consultancy Ernst & Young’s global oil and gas advisory practices, with a total 38-year career having been served at the consultancy.

Lynch-Bell is currently a nonexecutive director and chairperson of Aim- and TSX-listed Serabi Gold, nonexecutive chairperson of ASX-listed Little Green Pharma and nonexecutive director of London-listed Gem Diamonds.

Tirupati says Lynch-Bell’s appointment aligns with the company’s commitment to enhance its corporate governance by appointing high-calibre, experienced and independent directors to the board.

In this role, Lynch-Bell will be closely involved in all company efforts to enhance its corporate governance, including oversight of the programme to recruit additional independent directors.

The appointment is conditional on the current board remaining in place following a general meeting of shareholders on June 11.

Commenting on his new role, Lynch-Bell says Tirupati’s underlying investment case is strong, particularly as there is long-term and growing demand for graphite.

“While the company faces a challenging market for financing, I am confident it will successfully manage this and other challenges with the appropriate governance framework in place.”

Tirupati currently produces graphite from two projects in Madagascar.
