Trilogy welcomes Trump’s executive order advancing Ambler project
Exploration and development company Trilogy Metals has acknowledged the potential positive impact of an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, aimed at advancing resource development projects in Alaska, including the Ambler access project.
The Ambler access project involves the construction of an industrial access road connecting the Dalton highway to the Ambler mining district, a region containing high-grade deposits of copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver.
The road is a critical component of the development plan for the Upper Kobuk mineral projects, which are jointly owned by Trilogy Metals and South32 under their Ambler Metals joint venture.
Trilogy highlighted the significance of this executive action in providing regulatory certainty for the project, which had faced delays and challenges under previous administrative policies.
The project received a final environmental impact statement in 2020 under the National Environmental Policy Act. However, subsequent administrative changes led to the suspension of key permits, putting the project’s timeline in jeopardy.
Alaska’s congressional delegation has long supported the Ambler access project as a driver of economic growth and job creation in the state.
Trilogy said it would continue to engage with federal and state authorities to navigate the permitting and development phases of the Ambler access project. The company has consistently advocated for the road as a necessary infrastructure investment to support the sustainable development of the region’s mineral resources.
