Name of the Project
Ugitech plant green hydrogen project.

Location
Ugine, Switzerland.

Project Owner/s
Swiss Steel Group and Lhyfe.

Project Description
Swiss Steel has decided to use green hydrogen at its Ugitech plant to replace the natural gas used in some of its thermoprocessing equipment (burners and reheating and heat treatment furnaces), thereby decarbonising part of its industrial processes.

Lhyfe will install a green hydrogen production unit with a capacity of up to 12 t/d (a maximum electrolysis capacity of
30 MW) at the plant.

The green hydrogen will be used mainly at the Ugitech plant, supplied through a pipeline. The project could avoid the emission of 16 000 t/y of carbon dioxide.
