There may be much talk about a possible Covid-19 second wave, but there is now little doubt that we are in for wave upon wave of confidence-sapping load-shedding. With this scourge having been afflicting South Africa for over a decade and with the energy availability factor from Eskom’s under-maintained coal fleet continuing to fall, it is simply shameful that so little has been done to inject non-Eskom energy and capacity into the electricity network.
