Fresh produce supplier Westfalia Fruit has appointed Chris Bush group CEO, effective October 28.

He succeeds acting CEO Rian du Toit, who will return to his role as group CFO.

Bush has almost 40 years of experience working in grocery retail, having led complex multinational organisations and driving growth across various geographies.

His experience includes divisional CEO of CFI Retail Group and UK MD of Tesco.

Bush’s appointment follows an extensive search by Westfalia and the board of Hans Merensky Holdings globally.

“I am excited to meet our talented team, our customers, communities and stakeholders around the world to listen and learn how together we can maximise our growth potential and build sustainable, long-term success,” Bush says.

Westfalia operates in 17 countries on five continents to supply fresh and processed produce, including avocados, avocado oil, guacamole and dried fruit.

The company grows fruit in the Americas and Africa, while it has sales offices in the UK, Europe, North America, Latin America, Southern Africa and Asia.
