Zimplats, a subsidiary of Impala Platinum (Implats).

Project Description
Zimplats has been granted a licence to generate 185 MW of its own power.

Phase 1 is a 35 MW plant at the Selous Metallurgical Complex.

The project has four implementation phases.

Capital Expenditure
The four phases will collectively cost $201-million.

Phase 1 is estimated at $37-million.

Planned Start/End Date
The last phase of the project is scheduled for completion in the 2027 financial year.

The 35 MW solar plant project was commissioned in August 2024.

Latest Developments
The commissioning of the solar project and the enlarged furnace complex has positioned the operation to benefit from improved processing capacity, environmental performance and lower energy costs, Implats CEO Nico Muller has said.

The 35 MW solar plant project is ramping up power generation to design capacity.
