Name of the Project
African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) solar photovoltaic (PV) power project.

Location
North West, South Africa.

Project Owner/s
Sola Group and African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) Platinum.

Project Description
The project will wheel about 100 MW of PV power to ARM Platinum’s mining operations – Two Rivers, Bokoni and Nkomati mines.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) is expected to generate an estimated 490 0000 MWh of renewable electricity and prevent the emission of 4 800 000 t of carbon dioxide equivalent over 20 years.

Potential Job Creation
Not stated.

Capital Expenditure
R2.5-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
ARM signed a 20-year PPA with SOLA Group in April 2023. Construction started in July 2023. Full export capacity is expected in 2026.

Latest Developments
The construction of the solar plant is complete, with the project achieving more than 1.2-million lost-time injury-free working hours.

The long-term PPA is expected to deliver energy supply security, and substantial environmental and financial benefits, including an estimated 30% reduction in ARM Platinum’s CO2 emissions and total savings of 4.8-million tonnes over the 20-year term.

Despite temporary export constraints at the high-voltage distribution substation, the ARM Platinum operations started receiving renewable power during December 2025, with full 100 MW export capacity expected once the grid upgrades are completed in 2026.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
None stated.
