South African regional and domestic airline, Airlink, has announced changes to its flight schedule on its Johannesburg-Nairobi route. The service is operated every day, using Embraer E190 jetliners.

The changes involve the introduction of an early morning flight from Nairobi to Johannesburg, so that travellers arrive in South Africa’s business capital at the start of the working day. They will also arrive in time to make onward connections from Johannesburg. The flight from Johannesburg to Nairobi will depart in the early afternoon, allowing time for people to fly into Johannesburg from other cities and connect to the Nairobi flight.

“With our expanded fleet we’re able to adjust our Nairobi schedule to better serve the needs of business and leisure customers who prioritise convenience and a great choice of connections at both ends of the route,” explained Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht. “Nairobi is a key gateway to Kenya and the all-important East African market. Similarly, through Airlink’s Johannesburg hub, customers can connect with our other domestic and regional services as well as long-haul flights provided by our global airline partners.”

The new schedule will come into effect on March 28 next year. The morning flight from Nairobi will be coded 4Z 071 and leave the Kenyan capital at 06h30 local time, arriving in Johannesburg at 09h40 local time. The flight from Johannesburg to Nairobi will be coded 4Z 070 and depart at 13h30 (local time), arriving in Nairobi at 18h30 (again, local time).

Airlink was founded in 1992. It now operates a fleet of 70 modern jetliners, all products of Brazil-based global major aerospace group Embraer. It has a network of 67 routes, serving 47 destinations, spread across 15 countries and territories, across Southern and East Africa as well as in the Indian Ocean (Madagascar) and the South Atlantic (St Helena).
